A self-service laundry works well when customers understand the next step and operators can trace what happened. Installing a kiosk covers only part of the journey. The operation also needs to identify available machines, connect each payment to the selected service and confirm that the cycle actually started. This sequence provides a practical starting point for reviewing a connected operation with Cicclo.

Map the journey before integrating

Describe arrival, machine selection, laundry preparation, payment and collection. Identify the points where customers may need assistance. Capacity, cycle type and price should be visible before confirmation. A machine undergoing maintenance must not remain available for purchase. When integrating equipment, verify manufacturer compatibility and activation limits. Connectivity does not replace a technical review of the installation.

Distinguish an approved payment from a running machine

Keep a unique reference for the purchase attempt and an identifier for the equipment. Financial approval is not evidence that a washer has started. Track authorization, command delivery, confirmed start and completion as separate states. If confirmation is missing, avoid asking the customer to pay again. First check the financial event and the physical machine state.

Give exceptions a clear procedure

A lost connection can make the outcome of a command uncertain. Decide who checks the transaction, who inspects the machine and who authorizes another attempt or a refund. Support needs the site, time, machine and incident reference, without requesting complete card details. Short on-screen messages should distinguish normal waiting from a failure that needs assistance.

Pilot the whole operation

Before expanding, simulate a declined payment, an internet outage and a machine that never confirms its start. Compare time to activation, cycles started without assistance and support requests by incident type. Review cleaning, signage and access to help as well. Useful technology fits the team’s operating procedures and leaves enough evidence to resolve failures.

Implementation checklist

  • Document payment and cycle states.
  • Test each equipment model with technical supervision.
  • Assign owners and display a support channel.
  • Review pilot failures before replicating the site.
