Combine sales, availability and expiry information to organize vending-machine stocking.

A vending machine does not sell simply because it is connected or accepts digital payments. Customers need to find the desired product, understand its price and receive the selected item. Operators need to connect confirmed sales, observed stock and replenishment routines. Technology makes the operation visible, but data quality still depends on how teams record each movement.
Associate every physical position with the correct product and keep the catalog aligned with replenishment. An approved transaction is not automatically a confirmed collection. If the equipment provides a delivery signal, record it separately; otherwise document the limitation and validate balances with physical counts. Moving a different product into a position without updating configuration can create apparently consistent reports about the wrong item.
A product with no sales may be out of stock, unavailable or unpopular. Review the time it was available before deciding to remove it. Consider the hour, location and audience context without inferring personal preferences that were never collected. An office machine and a machine in a transit location may need different assortments and stocking routines.

Log quantities added, previous counts, expired items removed and adjustments. Use consistent product identifiers across sales and stocking. For food products, follow applicable supplier guidance for storage and expiry; digital stock cannot inspect the item’s physical condition. Recurring discrepancies need investigation into configuration, delivery failures and counting errors.
If an item sells out before replenishment, establish the stockout time and the capacity of its position. Changing visit frequency or space allocation may be more useful than carrying more total inventory. During the pilot, compare sales per available period, stockouts and expiry losses. Review changes with the people responsible for the route so that digital planning remains feasible in practice.
